Sitting on top of the freshly completed huge shopping mall refurbishment, VIVATEL tends to classify itself as being halfway between a business and a boutique hotel. Located in the outer suburbs of KL, in a very active and evolving area, the hotel needed to be iconic. The choice for the façade tries to make a statement with a fully glazed curve curved corner, using LED lights. The hotel stands actually like flag for the whole VIVA development.
The construction was completed in 2013.

To satisfy the increasing demand in terms of Air traffic in South-East Asia, Malaysia, the home country of fast growing airline AirAsia, is opening a second international Airport in Kuala Lumpur : KLIA 2.
The architectural answer to this extremely fast conducted project is a contemporary structure, kept as simple and efficient as possible, but designed for the climate specificities of a tropical region.
The proposal tries to combine the varous elements of its complex program (Terminal building, transportation Hub, shopping centre, etc…) into a coherent, dynamic and welcoming architectural structure.

The construction was completed in early 2014.

The new headquarters of Bank RK is located along one of the main highways of Kuala Lumpur, giving them a sensational exposure. Therefore, the project was designed as a flagship rising high above the sourrondings. For thermical efficiency, the building is wrapped into a partial second skin, to minimize the energy consumption of this impressive scale office project.

Highway junction bridges are mega-structures more and more popular to resolve developed city urban and peri-urban traffic. Underneath those over-scaled concrete structures stand generous and challenging left over spaces. The goal of this project was to take advantage of one these to convert it into a prime space, and give the citizens the opportunity to enjoy the scenic qualities of these concrete skins. The [Z]Art Centre uses this existing structure to support its cantilevers. Designed as a continuous ramp, the project links the various levels of highway, as a growing parasite, spreading even over the original left over space. The central void under the highway is purposely left empty to allow some covered outdoor art exhibitions or performances, concert, gathering … to convert it into a main component of the city.

Furniture usually has an invariable aspect that is the base of the design conception. Foldable chairs are different … Nevertheless most of those are still designed as fixed objects. Re-Form tries to explore a new vision of the folding movement. The actual shape of this chair is generated by action of folding it, which tense the covering material as well as it participate to the stability of its structure. Folding here gets a new meaning.

2009

Previously held by Nestle HQ, this 30 years old building needed a fresh new start. Appointed as “façade designer” my work on this project was to give totally new look to the building with a very limited budget … My idea has been the preserve most the existing façade, and add a second skin to it. Using reflective glass and aluminum composite panels, the new skin intent was to give a more open feeling as well as breaking the symmetry of the existing façade. Visible from one of the most famous highway around KL, the building gives a fresh feeling to the soon forgotten former Nestle House.
This project was awarded “Best Re-Development Malaysia 2010”.

2009

Located in Kuala Lumpur emerging middle-high class suburbs, ECM office is the HQ of an international banking company. The existing building needed a refurbishment, as it was covered with marble tiles … Keeping the existing façade structure, the idea of this project was to wrap-up the building with a combination of clear glass, tinted glass and aluminum composite panels, randomly positioned all around the building. To prevent overheating, the south-west façade has been over provided with aluminum composite panels. This second skin follows and reveals the interesting “peanut” shape of the building, with the addition of a pixilated pattern.

Located at the edge of Toulouse-Blagnac Airport, this water treatment unit feeds two needs. On one hand, it collects and delays the overall airport rain water. On the other hand, it treats this same water to clean it from any hydrocarbon before let it go to a natural channel connected to the project site. Following the specific requirements of this city industrial facility, the architecture of the building protects and goes along with the technical process, and in the mean time, develops an educative dimension by creating a visit and discovery path along the process. Apart from this pedagogic input, the project also attempts to show this water treatment unit as a flagship by specific lighting emphasizing the esthetic quality of this industrial activity.
